This weekend was spent shooting with RWP for an up and coming TV documentry. RWP are a Squamish based production company run by Bryan Smith. In the past I have worked with Bryan on some of his Ocean kayaking movies and other kayak based productions. The rigging for the stunt was set up by Local climbing/rigging guru Matt Madaloni.
This weekends shoot was between summits 2 and 3 on the Stawamus chief here in Squamish. The plan was for ‘extreme ginger’ Robin Avery to walk a slackline spanning the gulley between the two points.
The shoot turned out to be a full adventure weekend with us ending up getting stormed off the peak on saturday evening as a lightenning storm descended upon the Chief. Having planned for a dry lightweight bivouc on the Chief, non of the team had brought tarps, waterproof camera bags or even rain jackets as the forcast had shown nothing but dry weather. Just as we finished up shooting on Saturday evening what looked like a sizeable storm rolled around the back of Garibaldi peak, the general consesus was it was nothing but a light shower 20 mins later we were booting it over peak 2 cluthcing our camera’s within our bivi bags, watching as lightenning bolts fell all around us. We finally ended up descending in torrential rain in pitch blackness.
All in all the weekend was a total success, the team worked well together, overcame the many hurdles in the way and came back down on sunday evening with a TV documentry ready to be edited. Here are some of the images from the weekends events……
