First day of winter

without comments

Winter feels like it has begun. Great weather in Squamish, sunny and cold up top, still a few clouds floating over.

Quick shot from the last of the summers greenery in the Squamish woods. Just after rain the forest is super lush. Jonathon Desrosiers getting in amongst the green, Squamish BC. Damn shame about the T-shirt though, orange would have made the shot a lot better ! You live and learn I guess……

Nikon D3S

without comments

The Nikon D3S has just been released as an upgrade to the current D3. Lots of geeky numbers and chat online about the pros and cons of the camera. Personally I can’t wait for the video option and despite it’s inflexible formats the sheer scope that the high ISO shooting gives will outweigh all the possible downsides to this feature. Canon despite juggling numbers on their new 1D still do not have a proven high ISO solution.

Hopefully the cameras should ship soon. I can’t wait to shoot video with all my lenses to choose from….

A Cumbrian excursion

I  was recently back in the UK to visit friends and family in the Lake District. I only seem to get back once a year nowadays and it never feels long enough unfortunately. With so many pies to eat and bottles of Cider to consume the time seems to fly by. This year the weather was as shitty as always and largely drizzled for the majority of the time, offering neither water to kayak or particularly great views on the hills. A few brief windows did appear though with a great day out on the Duddon’s becks and a handful of days out on the hills. Anyway enough dull text here’s a few snapshots….

Freewriter is an all new free magazine being distributed in the Sea 2 sky corridor, recently set up by Mike Nixon from Squamish. Great work so far, long may it last. Pick up a copy if you get chance…..

The 2nd issue featured one of my images of Max Kniewasser dropping 50/50 falls on the Ashlu river.

Rain, rain, rain………

It has rained for a solid week now in Squamish. One of the great by products of this is the amazing fog you get in the woods. Jonathon Desrosiers enjoys a trail ride in the dark woods of the Garibaldi Highlands….
